Last weekend saw a good cross section of riders made their way to Kartworld, Watergrasshill for an open session of minibikes in preparation for the season that lies ahead. I went along in my capacity as Club "photographer" to get a feel for the appetite these future stars had for their pitbikes and mini GP bikes. It proved a difficult day with conditions changing for riders throughout the morning but as soon as the wet stuff had dispersed dry lines were appearing on the track and the Junior classes were out on track.
Joey Hennessey from New Ross in Co.Wexford has been riding motorbikes since he was 3 Y/O and having turned 13 only this year he's stepping up to the competitive circles in the Southern Pitbike Championships and we wish Joey the best of luck.
There was a strong Limerick contingent down and amongst the posse was none other than Isle of Man exponent Liam Chawke along with Simon Butler, Gearoid Barrett and Brian O'Connell.
Miltown Malbay's Kevin Baker is still making positive strides in the right direction after his self confessed Superman moment in Enniskillen back in 2019 left him with a lot to ponder. Kevin had a great session as can be seen here getting to grip with his Stomp.
Later on in the week another Clubman by the name of Jeff Quilter was pushing his Aprilla RS125 and 140 Stomp to the limit in preparation for the Mondello Masters Championships after a 3rd place finish last year in the Stock 140cc series. Jeff will complete in the Young Guns class sponsored by our good friends #Team109 on board a KTM 390 and we wish him all the best for the campaign.
